Viral Video: The internet has developed into a never-ending resource for information and entertainment, giving users easy access to interesting and entertaining content. One of the most popular forms of internet entertainment is viral videos, which are often shared on social media. Because of social media’s influence, a lot of people create videos in an attempt to become famous, and these videos circulate online. A video has gone viral online which showed a famous Australian woman making a video in Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar and she is facing backlash on the social media platform because she tried bargaining in the market.
The viral video showed an Australian woman facing backlash for bargaining
A young Australian woman, a member of the travel blogging trio ‘Living the Jo Life,’ found herself in the centre of online criticism after attempting to negotiate at Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar market. Although Sarojini Nagar is well-known for providing affordable options and is a popular destination for bargain hunters, Ms. Johansen erred by attempting to haggle at a “Fixed Price” business. However, bargaining at a “fixed price” store is usually ineffective because the owners hardly ever reduce the price of their goods.
In a video, Ms Johansen attempted to negotiate over the green kurti, which was priced at ₹ 350. She referred to the fact that ₹ 350 is only equivalent to six Australian dollars. The shopkeeper forcefully refused three times, despite her attempts to bargain and make an offer of ₹ 250 for the item. Ms Johansen eventually gave up and paid the ₹ 350 original price for the kurti.
Netizens slammed the vlogger
The video went viral online and netizens started slamming the social media vlogger in the comment section of the post. One user wrote, “Some of you have never been outside the US and it shows.” Another user wrote, “holy shit the one thats least offended by this would be the shopkeepr lol.. most likely the dude thinks he missed a chance to say 500 and had to settle for 350 only due to fixed price board. y’all stay offended from far away.. its amusing to us locals.”
