Viral Video: In a shocking incident, a female worker of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) slapped Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam during the Maharashtra Executive Meeting in Dadar on Wednesday. She is identified as Neema Moharkar from Bhandara. She went up on the stage where the meeting was going on and slapped Gautam. This shocked all people present.
Incident Details and Reactions
The incident took place when party workers were coming up one by one to meet Gautam and other dignitaries on the stage. As Moharkar reached the stage, she suddenly slapped the MP. The video of the incident showed shock and confusion ensuing right after that. The reason of this assault is said to be attributed to Moharkar’s anger for not being given a ticket from the Bhandara-Gondia constituency in the recent parliamentary elections.
FIR and Expulsion
An FIR has been lodged following the incident against Neema Moharkar, and she has been expelled from the BSP. Party insiders are indicating that such a halftime dissent among the workers over the distribution of election tickets was the breeding ground of this unprecedented act. At the same time, several slogans were raised during the meeting demanding the removal of Maharashtra State President Sunil Dongre, reflecting the internal tussles within the party.
Background of Ramji Gautam
Gautam, who hails from Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, has been associated with the party since the 1980s. However, since then, he has held different responsible positions. He was first placed as the coordinator of Banda, but within some time he was considered responsible for various districts. He was made the national vice-president of the BSP in 2018.
The disaster during the Maharashtra Executive Meeting has brought forth increasing restiveness within the Bahujan Samaj Party cadre, concerning ticket distribution and, more importantly, regarding internal leadership. The party, meanwhile, is trying to come to terms with the disaster. Only time will tell how the problems are taken care of to bring unity within the party cadre. The BSP party leadership itself and Ramji Gautam have not made any formal announcement on the matter, thus keeping both the party members and the general public waiting on the tenterhooks as for the next part of the story to follow.
