In a dramatic turn of events, the rushing undercurrents suddenly swept down the river, dragging some of them inside the river waters. At least a lot of them got away live, with the incident sending a strongly cautionary message about the risks involving such kinds of fly-tipping activities in extreme weather conditions. A Devastating Path of Destruction Across Asia
Super Typhoon Yagi has left a destructive trail of tragedy. Preliminary government estimates have allowed Reuters in naming no less than 21 people dead and 229 others injured in Vietnam alone. A family of four were killed in the mountainous Hoa Binh province when a hillside fell on their home. In China, four people died in the southern island province of Hainan as the storm hit land. The Philippines, the first country in Typhoon Sarika’s path, accounted for 20 dead.
The destruction was most severe in Vietnam, where a number of people have lost their lives to different storm-related incidents, such as landslides and falling trees, as reported by the disaster management agency of the country’s defense ministry. Among the six fatalities were two children who died in a horrific landslide in the Hoang Lien Son mountains.
