Viral Video: The anger turned into a pitch of violence in Deoria region of Uttar Pradesh over not finding fish in the wedding menu. This incident happened in a village of Anand Nagar on Thursday where Abhishek Sharma and bride Sushma were getting married.
Wedding Celebrations Turn Sour
It was Abhishek Sharma who came with his ‘baarat’ to take Sushma as his life partner. The function started on a happy note, as the old varmala ceremony, in which the two exchanged wedding garlands with each other, was performed. However, out of nowhere, all went sour as the groom’s side headed towards the dinner section.
Food Dispute Sparks Violence
They were expecting a grand menu comprising non-vegetarian dishes. On the contrary, it had only paneer, pulao, and various kinds of curries. Not including fish in the menu infuriated the groom’s party, due to which they got into a heated argument with the bride’s family.
Physical Altercation Ensues
The disagreement soon snowballed into fisticuffs. Abhishek Sharma and his relatives started thrashing members of the bride’s side. In a video of the incident, which has gone viral, it can be seen that an argument over the menu at the wedding has wedding guests engaging in a melee of punches, kicking, and attacking each other indiscriminately.
Injuries and Aftermath
Six were injured in the fray, thereby tainting the essence of the otherwise joyous occasion. The incident drew much attention to illustrate how cultural and personal expectations could lead to conflict in one of the most important social events.
