Local accounts suggest that the reason for the violence is due to a long-standing family feud of the woman concerning land ownership between the family and their neighbors. There had been several previous tries to arbitrate these facts through the village council that resulted in frequent exchanges of aggressive insults, according to local accounts. The wife’s husband filed a formal complaint at the police station on Monday against harassment by the neighbors. Yesterday, they severely retaliated by attacking the husband.
