Viral Video: A teenager in Sitamarhi, Bihar, was filming an Instagram video on her rooftop in the rain when she miraculously avoided multiple lightning strikes. The youngster, Saniya Kumari, is seen in the 11-second film dancing happily on her home’s patio in the pouring rain when all of a sudden, lightning strikes dangerously close to her. The lightning struck Devnarayan Bhagat, Saniya’s neighbor, on his rooftop.

Narrow Escape from Lightning

She reacts fast and runs off the terrace, just escaping injury. Social media users have been sharing the dramatic cell phone video of the girl’s incredible escape. Notably, since Wednesday morning, the Sitamarhi district has been hit by intense monsoon rains.

The occurrence happened in Bihar during a period of intense rain. For the next four to five days, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that the district will continue to get rainfall, with daily precipitation ranging from five to twenty millimeters. Farmers in the area benefit from this weather since it makes it easier to transplant paddy and revive other crops like sugarcane, maize, and moong.

Fatal Lightning Incidents

According to reports from officials on June 26, at least eight persons have perished in Bihar as a result of lightning strikes in six different districts in the past 24 hours. Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Araria are among the districts that are impacted.

For the next five days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall over East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph).
