Viral Video: Residents of Noida and Greater Noida have been dealing with a serious water shortage, much like those in Delhi. Social media users are going crazy over a video showing residents of Panchsheel Hynish, a high-rise in Greater Noida, standing in large lines to get water from a private water tanker.
Water Shortage Hits Greater Noida
In the footage, a number of men and women are seen waiting in line with their buckets. “This video is not from Latur in Madhya Pradesh, but from the country’s most emerging city, Greater Noida (UP),” user Sachin Gupta remarked on X after sharing the video. The Greno Authority’s pump house motor is not operating. The Panchsheel Hynish Society’s 1400 families are hauling buckets of water up multiple stories.
Atishi’s Protest and Government Response
When the video was shared on June 22, many people responded on social media. A scarcity of water in several areas of Noida occurred last month. About 5,000 people of the Eldeco Aamantran Society reportedly had to fill their tanks with water from private water trucks.
In the meantime, Delhi Water Minister Atishi is protesting against the state government of Haryana by keeping her indefinite fast going into its second day. Atishi declared, “I will not eat anything until Haryana releases more water for the people in the city, 28 lakh of whom are suffering from water shortage,” in a video message from her “Jal Satyagrah” location in Bhogal, south Delhi.
