Viral Video: What was supposed to be a routine visit to the collectorate on Tuesday became a chaotic scene of physical altercation as a husband and wife, their relatives, and scores of onlookers clashed with each other. A quarrel over marital discord broke into a fracas replete with kicks, punches, and slippers.

Marriage Dispute Erupts at Collectorate

In the Viral Video we can see The incident happened in an ensuing fierce row, when a married couple, the woman from Gunnaur and her husband from village Khajra, turned eight years of marriage. The man and his family accused the woman of staying separately for several years and refusing to get reunited despite efforts by her husband.

The couple, along with their respective families, had come to the collectorate in an attempt to iron out the differences. The argument between the two sides escalated and snowballed into an altercation. The husband and wife started shouting at each other. In no time, abuses turned into kicks and punches. The sister sisters of the woman jumped into the fray and started slapping the husband with slippers.

Allegations of Estrangement and Infidelity

As the noise escalated, a crowd of onlookers started to gather and further added to the mayhem. The scuffle persisted for about 15 minutes before the incharge of Collectorate Chowki and some other police personnel intervened. This did not put an immediate end to the scuffle but rather continued for quite some time before the police brought the situation under control.

The police have since taken up the matter and launched an investigation. According to them, the dispute is majorly between the husband and wife, and further action would depend upon the outcome of the investigation. This episode is very telling of the need for strong mechanisms in conflict resolution so that such cases do not result in violence.
