Viral Video: The shopkeepers were cleared by Lahore police two days after a group of girls went to them and reported harassment through a formal complaint. Instead, a video of the females viciously attacking the workers has emerged. According to police, there was insufficient evidence to support claims of staff harassment. The police have made it clear that they will take action against the females if and when the shopkeeper approach them asking for aid.
Footage Shows Alleged Physical and Verbal Assault
Ghar ka kalesh posted this video on Twitter with a caption “Kalesh in Pakistani shop b/w a Woman and Shopkeeper (Context in video)?.” The fight, which was caught on camera without the original audio, has now gained widespread attention on social media. Though it’s unclear what the females are saying, the video appears to show them physically and verbally assaulting the salesman. The footage is played while an unidentified individual voices his thoughts and calls for justice. The aides refused to comply with the kids’ demands, citing lack of justification, until the girls insisted that they touch their feet and offer an apology.
Resolution of Allegations
Lahore police Tweeted, “On July 7, the police registered an FIR on a complaint of harassment by the girls. Today, on the basis of video evidence, these boys were acquitted. However, if any application is received from these boys, action will be taken according to merit.” The girls accused the workers of harassing them and filed a formal complaint. In response to Dr. Taha Cheema’s tweet, the Lahore police said that the helpers had been found not guilty after looking into the information provided, which demonstrated that the females had not been subjected to harassment. The cops went on to say that further action would be done if the helpers approached.
