Viral Video: A video of Jalaun’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. ND Sharma, went viral on social media, with people reacting abruptly to controversial remarks by him regarding corruption. The video shared by Bharat Samachar on X shows Dr. Sharma likening corruption to the engine oil in a car, stating that the system runs with it, no matter how Hi-Tech it may be.
CMO’s Controversial Analogy
He says in the video, “Corruption is like Mobil oil in a car; if there is no Mobil oil in it, the car starts fluttering, even if it is a Mercedes. It is necessary to have Mobil oil in the car.” This analogy elicited sharp criticism and incredulity from the public, who is now raising questions about the integrity of the health administration in Jalaun.
Clearly, that statement was made in a context: it was in a meeting to discuss transactional matters to obtain permissions for private nursing home operators. The video, secretly recorded by one of the attendees, was released promptly online, evoking an outburst of reactions and discussions.
Claims Video is a ‘Deep Fake’ Intended to Defame
He has clarified, in the wake of the uproar, that the video is a “deep fake” and was prepared and uploaded with malafide intentions to defame the Government and the district administration for its consistent efforts against brokers and corrupt practices in hospitals. He asserted that the video was a handiwork of those frustrated by the regulatory actions in recent times.
The state government is yet to react officially to the incident. The controversy has continued to unfold, with divided public sentiment and video credibility under scrutiny.
