Viral Video: In a tragic incident, three UPSC aspirants died due to being trapped in a flooded basement at Old Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi, following a drain burst. Sources say that the tragedy happened around 7:00 pm on Saturday, following a drenching spell of rainfall.

A chilling video of all the chaos created during the incident was captured and shared by one of the surviving aspirants, Hridesh Chauhan. The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the chaos as the basement filled with water. Students rush to safety while others rush to save a man struggling in the rising water. Chauhan’s post on X said the basement was flooded in ten minutes — the flooding started at around 6:40 pm. The police and the NDMA were immediately informed, but help reached after 9 pm. In fact, one of the factors responsible for this tragic loss of life was a delay.

Chauhan further went on to report that three other aspirants were hospitalized as a result of the incident. People have massively come out to fault the authorities over the slow response and ill emergency management in the video, which already recorded over 1.2 million views.

The incident has caused outrage, and on social media, . It reinforces the need for better infrastructure and emergency response mechanisms across the board, more so in places where it rains a lot, culminating in flooding.
