Viral video: A viral video has taken the internet by storm, capturing a devastating landslide that has left at least four houses in ruins and two people dead in Shimla. The incident occurred in the Krishna Nagar area, a tranquil hillside neighborhood, where heavy rainfall has triggered the calamitous event.
Tree’s fall sets the stage for disaster
The harrowing video footage shows a tree swaying dangerously before crashing onto the roof of one of the houses, causing substantial damage. The video then freezes in heart-stopping suspense as the ground beneath gives way. The damaged house and three others teeter on the edge momentarily before collapsing down the hillside in a catastrophic collapse, leaving behind a scene of destruction.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed his condolences over the tragic loss of life and property. “Two people have died. We have recovered one body, and we can see the leg of another. About 35 people had been evacuated from their houses. I would urge everyone to vacate their houses if they notice any cracks,” stated Mr. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Meteorological warnings
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warning regarding the rain in Himachal Pradesh. The department officially announced that there are heavy chances that Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and North India will witness heavy rainfall and thunderstorm in the coming four to five days.
