Viral Video: In a tragic incident, a 38-year-old man jumped into the Arabian Sea from the Atal Setu Bridge in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon. The control room at the bridge alerted the Nhava Sheva Police Station about the desperate leap by the man around 12:30 PM.

Car Parked at 12.16 km Mark of Atal Setu

According to the police, the man had driven his car to the bridge, climbed over the railings, and jumped into the sea. Later, through an Aadhaar card found in his wallet left behind in the parked car, his identity was confirmed. His wallet contained an identity card from a construction firm where he had worked until the previous year.

“Financial problems appear to be a possible reason, but nothing concrete has been found. No suicide note was recovered, nor was there any phone in the car. The car was parked on the 12.16 km mark of the bridge, which falls at the beginning of the Navi Mumbai jurisdiction. From there, the man got out of the car and jumped,” said Senior Police Inspector Anjum Bagwan.

Career and Personal Life

The deceased, a native of Palava City in Dombivli, was an engineer who earlier worked with a construction firm in Mumbai before starting his electrical contracting business along with a partner. His wife revealed that he had a history of suicidal attempts and once in Kuwait, he survived an attempt by consuming phenyl.

He had informed his wife on Tuesday night that he was going to meet his business partner after which he lost contact. He was being searched for by rescue teams from MTHL and the coastal police as late as Wednesday afternoon. Though the search is still on the man could not be traced, adding tragic circumstances to the whole event.
