The viral video showed unbelievable visuals and stunned the internet because an electric blue flame coming out from a volcano is not a normal thing. Social media users were taken aback by an amazing video showing electric-blue flames shooting from an Indonesian volcano. Photographer Olivier Grunewald, who has been documenting the eruptions from Kawah Ijen volcano, reveals that the phenomena are unique.
He talked about the volcano to National Geographic and he said that the bright blue glow is the result of sulfuric gas burning. A few years ago, the video was taken, and it has since been re-uploaded on the social media platform Twitter (now known as X). The video was a part of a documentary that was released by Mr. Grunewald and the Society for Volcanology in Geneva.

Although the Ijen volcano is similar to others, a large number of sulfur pockets in the granite are the reason behind the blue lava anomaly. The chemical is produced at high pressure and temperature from fissures in the volcanic rocks when the rock burns and transforms into sulfur dioxide, a toxic gas, upon contact with the air. It produces an eye-catching blue flame as well.
