Viral Video: In a passionate homage that combines the spiritual with the political, two die-hard fans have undertaken a different type of Kanwad Yatra in which they have merged their worshipping of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with their spiritual entity, Lord Shiva. Rupendra Tomar and Sonu Tyagi of Khelda Baghpat have embarked upon this special pilgrimage by carrying the statues of both PM Modi and Lord Shiva on their shoulders along with the traditional Kanwad. Kanwad Yatra Starts with Purifying Bath at Har Ki Pauri
The event began with a ritualistic bath at Har Ki Pauri, a revered Ghat on the Ganges symbolizing the purity and devotion of the occasion. Their Kanwad now carried not only the holy water being taken for Lord Shiva but a separate Kalash that had to be offered to Prime Minister Modi. This has been coupled with the unique gesture of touching the feet, bringing to the fore deep respect for the Prime Minister, whom they credit for achieving certain important aspirations of the Hindus over the years, including, of course, meeting Ramlala at the Ram Mandir.
Rupendra Tomar shares the motivation behind their actions: “Narendra Modi has fulfilled the 500-year-old dream of meeting Ramlala, which Hindus have longed for. We felt a surge to do something special about his contributions. When he was elected for a third time, we thought this Kanwad Yatra would be our way of expressing gratitude. We are offering Ganga water to Mahadev and have a different Kalash for Modi ji.”
Tomar Expresses Devotion to PM Modi and Hopes for Divine Blessings
Tomar puts forth that he is deeply respectful towards Modi and says, “If God wills, then our offering will reach its destination. Modi Ji has accomplished many works for the country, and we believe that who-so-ever works for Sanatan Dharma deserves such recognition. We are conducting the first yatra, but definitely in times to come also we will continue it. Meeting Modi Ji is still a dream for every Sanatani, and with the blessings of God this dream shall come true one fine day.”
Pilgrimage Blends Religious Rituals with Modern-Day Reverence for PM Modi
With just 5-6 people by his side, the Kanwad Yatra by Tomar and Tyagi has come into notice not only for its being unusual but also the most earnest way to pay homage. In doing so, their pilgrimage merged with religious traditions and modern day reverence to show that faith, which is really personal, can be combined with national pride.
It is an act of reverence, underlining how deep political leaders may influence their followers—the ancient traditions intertwined with contemporary feelings of thanksgiving and reverence. As they journey with the Kanwad, Rupendra Tomar and Sonu Tyagi hope this symbolic act becomes a beacon of homage for the unflinching admiration toward none other than Lord Shiva and the Prime Minister, Modi.
