Viral Video: A university in China has created an unusual “kissing device” that has captured the attention of social media users, who are both fascinated and taken aback by the invention. Reports suggest that the Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology has patented the device, which is marketed as a means for long-distance couples to experience genuine physical intimacy.
Designed to give real feel
The unique device has silicone lips that are equipped with pressure sensors and actuators, according to reports. It is capable of replicating the pressure, movement, and temperature of the user’s lips, creating an experience that is said to be similar to a real kiss. In addition to the kissing sensation, the device can also capture and transmit the user’s sounds.
To use the device, users simply need to download a mobile app and plug the device into the charging port of their phone. After pairing the device with their partner via the app, they can initiate a video call and exchange kisses.
Jiang Zhongli, the chief designer of the product, said “In my university, I was in a long distance relationship with my girlfriend so we only had contact with each other through the phone. That’s where the inspiration of this device originated.”

According to reports, Jiang applied for a patent for the device in 2019, but the patent expired in January 2023. He is now hoping that someone interested in the device will take on the task of refining and improving its design.
The device has caused a stir on social media. While some users found the device amusing, others criticized it as being “creepy” and “vulgar”. Some users also expressed concerns that minors might be able to buy and use the device.
