Animal viral news: A four-foot-long Indian rock python was discovered on the terrace of a 13th-floor tower in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar (west). The snake’s presence at such a height lef_t local residents in shock and prompted a swift rescue operation by dedicated animal lovers.
Animal activists come to the rescue
The Indian rock python was first noticed on the terrace of Vraj Paradise building on LBS Road, Ghatkopar (west), by vigilant residents. Animal activist Soorraj Saha, who works for an IT firm in Mumbai, immediately sprang into action. Realizing the significance of the discovery and the need for expert assistance, Saha and fellow animal lovers promptly informed the state forest department to ensure the safe rescue of the majestic reptile.
A protected wildlife species
The Indian rock python is a protected wildlife species, and encountering one in an urban setting like a high-rise tower is a rare occurrence. The reptile was found covered in wet cement due to ongoing construction work on the terrace. This further highlighted the urgency of its rescue and protection.
Handed over to the forest department
Following the successful rescue, the Indian rock python was handed over to the forest department for further evaluation and care. The department will assess the python’s health and determine the best course of action for its release into a suitable natural habitat.
