The fascination surrounding the water has increased due to a recent viral video that shows a humpback whale in a rare and dramatic moment.
Humpback Whale Attack Goes Viral
On July 23, a humpback whale was unexpectedly sighted in the Piscataqua River, which borders New Hampshire and Maine in the US. The whale’s sudden appearance was already astonishing, but what happened next was truly extraordinary. The massive whale leaped out of the water and landed directly on a boat carrying two fishermen.
Fishermen Thrown Overboard
The fishermen were thrown into the river when the boat overturned due to the whale’s powerful leap. Both fisherman were saved and are said to be in good health thanks to the prompt action of adjacent boaters. The whale continued swimming unharmed despite the startling event.

The video of the whale’s leap has gone viral, sparking a flurry of reactions on social media. One user on X (formerly Twitter) remarked, “The boat attacked the whale, actually.” Another commented, “No way I’ll ever go fishing again.” A third user joked, “Was the whale after the boat or the captain?” While a fourth quipped, “Nope! This is why I don’t hang out in the middle of the ocean lol.”
