Female SI harassed by advocate husband, Watch Video

A woman Sub-Inspector (SI) of Delhi Police was allegedly assaulted by her lawyer husband in Dwarka, South-West Delhi. Police said on Monday that the matter came to light when SI Doli Tewatia expressed her problems on Twitter and also posted a video in which her husband is seen abusing and fighting with her in Dwarka.

The victim accused the husband

SI said from his personal Twitter handle, ‘I am a sub-inspector in Delhi Police. I am on maternity leave now. My lawyer husband Tarun Dabas is continuously misbehaving with me. Today he beat me in broad daylight. Please take action. In the video, the man can be seen ramming his black SUV into a parked car and was later seen having an argument with his wife. He beat up his wife and also threatened to kill her.

The SI also sought help from the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) through Twitter, after which the commission issued a notice to the police. Tewatia said on Monday that he has so far lodged three complaints against Dabas. Acting in the matter, the Delhi Police has registered a case against her husband and is investigating.

A senior police officer said that a case under sections 323, 341, 427 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Najafgarh police station. A case has been registered on the complaint of the woman SI and her brother Sumit Kumar. In the complaint, Kumar alleged that Dabas assaulted him several times in September.

Complaint was also made to the Joint Commissioner of Police

Kumar said, ‘Dabas and five-seven goons accompanying him attacked me near Rohini heliport on September 4, 2022. I called PCR and somehow the police rescued me. A complaint was also given to the Joint Commissioner of Police’s office, Rohini. After receiving repeated threats of the same nature, I have asked the police to ensure my and my family’s safety. However, no concrete action was taken against Dabas.

Swati Maliwal issued notice

Meanwhile, DCW chief Swati Maliwal took to Twitter to say that even a woman policewoman is not safe and had to seek help on social media. Maliwal said, “The sub-inspector of Delhi Police has been assaulted by her husband for several months but no action has been taken. The police itself is forced to seek help on Twitter. I am issuing notice to Delhi Police. Strict action should be taken. If the police itself is not safe then how will the common woman be safe.
