In his speech, Bhuria said , “If Congress comes to power, as our manifesto states, every woman will get Rs 1 lakh in her bank account. Women from each house will get Rs 1-1 lakh. Those who have two wives will get Rs 2 lakh…,”
Congress Manifesto and Bhuria’s Statement
Following the announcement of the Congress party’s “Nyay Patra” manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, this pledge was made. The manifesto included a number of social initiatives, such as giving women in the Mahalaxmi scheme Rs 8,500 each month until they are no longer considered to be below the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
BJP Reacts
Bhuria’s statement quickly drew criticism from his political opponents, particularly from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shehzad from the BJP criticized Bhuria’s promise, referring to it as a twisted version of the “jitni aabadi utna haq” scheme of the Congress party.
Another BJP leader, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “This is not an isolated incident…Congress party has become an apologist for Pakistan and Pakistan-based terror…Congress has become desperate, they know they will get very less seats this time. They only have one thing to do that is to do appeasement politics.”
BJP state spokesperson Narendra Saluja critisised congress party stating, “What an objectionable comment made by Congress’s Ratlam candidate Kantilal Bhuria about the head of the country, who represents 140 crore people of the country… Such is the cheap thinking of Congress… Sometimes juice, sometimes syrup, two weddings today, naked…? This is their terminology… Election Commission @ECISVEEP should take cognizance and take action…”
