Rahul Gandhi Viral Video: Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticised Modi administration during the debate on Union Budget 2024 in a tense Lok Sabha session on Monday. Gandhi’s words were emphasised by the picture that was put up from the ‘halwa ceremony,’ a traditional event held at the Ministry of Finance before to the budget announcement.
Photo Sparks Commotion
Gandhi’s use of the ‘halwa ceremony’ photo stirred up a commotion among NDA MPs. The Speaker, Om Birla, had to step in, urging Gandhi to keep the House’s decorum intact. Rahul Gandhi took to X and shared the image of the same incident with the caption stating, “Today in Parliament, when I raised the issue of caste census, the Finance Minister laughed and ridiculed this serious issue. Such a dismissive response to the most important issue related to the lives of 90% of the country’s population has exposed the intentions, mindset and motives of the BJP. I want to tell the BJP that we will make caste census a reality at all costs and provide justice to the deprived. INDIA will bring out the X-Ray of the country.”
Nirmala Sitharaman’s Viral Reaction
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, present in the House, reacted to Gandhi’s comments with a smile and a nod of disagreement. Her reaction quickly went viral on social media, capturing the attention of netizens.
Critique of the Budget
Gandhi argued that the budget disregarded the concerns of underprivileged groups, highlighting the lack of OBCs, tribal members, or Dalits among those responsible for its preparation. He accused the government of setting up a “chakravyuha,” or trap, including monopoly capital, financial institutions, and the political administration, and he called the budget a weapon of monopoly power.. “This photo shows budget ka halwa being distributed. I can’t see one OBC, tribal, or Dalit officer in this. 20 officers prepared the budget… Hindustan ka halwa 20 logon ne baatne ka kaam kiya hai,” he remarked.
Addressing Key Issues
Gandhi criticised the budget for failing to tackle issues like demonetization and tax terrorism. He noted the finance minister did not address concerns over paper leaks and expressed disappointment that the budget did not ease the struggles of farmers, laborers, and small and medium businesses. Instead, he argued, it reinforced existing monopolies and political power.
