Viral news: In a recent incident, a passenger traveling from Bhopal to Gwalior on the Vande Bharat Express expressed his dissatisfaction with the food served by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The passenger took to Twitter to share his shocking discovery of a cockroach in his meal, raising concerns about food safety and hygiene on the train.
Tweet sparks outrage
The concerned passenger, using the handle “@IRCTCofficial,” shared images of the contaminated meal, which showed a small cockroach stuck to one of the rotis. This tweet quickly gained traction on social media, garnering over 5368 views. Several other passengers who had traveled the same route also commented on the post, revealing that they had consumed the same contaminated food and were feeling unwell afterward.
IRCTC’s response and measures taken
Upon receiving the passenger’s complaint, IRCTC swiftly addressed the issue and assured the public that prompt action had been taken. The corporation acknowledged the presence of the cockroach in the passenger’s meal and arranged for an alternative, fresh meal to be provided. Additionally, they disclosed that suitable punitive action had been taken against the licensee responsible for the food preparation, emphasizing a “zero tolerance” policy towards such incidents in the future.

The Twitter post has triggered a wave of reactions from netizens, with some expressing outrage and demanding a thorough investigation into food quality across all train services. One user commented, “it’s just extra protein. Quit blaming modi ji for perks you get riding bullet trains.” Another user commented, “We all want compensation(we all are traveling with this member) or resignation of vendors on public platforms.” One of them commented, “Really bed service in Vande Bharat Train I request immediate action against this Vander and cancel food licence. Khana to kha liya hai lekin aaspass ke sabhi ka pat khrab ho rha hai.”
