Last month, a case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against Mewaram and eight others. The victim alleged not only rape against her and a friend but also revealed that her minor daughter had been subjected to sexual abuse. According to her complaint, Mewaram had been assaulting her since 2021, with one of the accused, Ram Swaroop Acharya, harassing her for the past five years.
Disturbing Details Emerge from Victim’s Testimony
The victim further claimed that when Mewaram and Ram Swaroop grew tired of assaulting her, they demanded she bring underage girls (aged 15-16) for further exploitation. Shockingly, the victim’s friend testified that she was tortured with a stick inserted in her private parts.
Legal Maneuvers and Viral Videos Expose Mewaram Jain
Despite legal proceedings, Mewaram managed to secure a stay on his arrest until January 25. However, before any court hearings could progress, the viral release of explicit videos featuring Mewaram compromised his standing in society. The videos, allegedly submitted to the police as evidence by the victim, mysteriously surfaced on social media.
Sextortion Case Unveils Further Complications
In a bizarre twist, screenshots related to the explicit video led to a sextortion case against Mewaram’s associate, Ram Swaroop Acharya. Accusations claimed a demand for Rs 5 crore, settling at Rs 50 lakh, but later escalating to Rs 1 crore. Several arrests, including two women, were made in connection with this case.

Mewaram Jain, a three-time Congress MLA and former minister, faced defeat in the last election against BJP rebel Priyanka Chaudhary.
