Viral Photo: Anaya Peterson, a 32-year-old law student from Belfast, Northern Ireland, may permanently lose her sight. Amber Luke, an Australian model who had tattooed her eyeballs a bright blue and then experienced three weeks of blindness, inspired Anaya. According to Anaya’s doctors, she won’t have any luck recovering her vision. Despite the fact that Anaya’s idol Luke was able to regain her vision, it appears that she must now learn how to live without it.
Her daughter tried to warn her
“At first, I only intended to get one (tattooed) eye because I reasoned that if I go blind, at least I’ll still have the other eye. I ought to have persisted with that What if you lose your sight? my daughter questioned. I should have listened to my daughter, who is seven,” she says regretfully.

Eyes become floaters
The woman from Belfast, Northern Ireland, was hospitalised due to the modification of her eyeball following a possible ink reaction, and she now claims that cataracts are a possibility.
“My 20/20 vision is no longer present. I can’t make out features on faces from here,” she said. “I wouldn’t be experiencing this issue if I hadn’t had my eyeballs tattooed. Even today, when I woke up, my eyes had more floaters. It’s dangerous, too.
Reason behind taking this step
What gave her the idea to tattoo both of her eyes? Anaya claims that the procedure for tattooing her first eyeball was trouble-free. She had no issues for months after getting her right eye tattooed blue in July 2020. Yes, there was some dryness, and she had headaches, but in December of that year she decided to tattoo the colour purple on her left eye.
Situation becomes worse
She awoke one morning in August 2021 with eyelids so incredibly swollen they resembled a boxer’s blackeye. She made the decision to check herself into the hospital when things started to get worse. Her problematic eye was biopsyed by the treating physicians, and she was given an intravenous drip of medication for three days.
“On the outside, it’s recovered. I guess I am. Just inside, that is. In essence, I’m about to go blind,” she said. If I could go back in time, I’d only get one black (eye) tattoo and leave it alone. I would have performed a black. Yes, Anaya makes a self-promise to never again take that route.
