Viral Video: A touching scene played out in Amravati, Maharashtra, where two soon-to-be grooms stole the show, not because of their wedding attires, but because of their unwavering dedication to democracy. While wedding planning was in full swing, Vadarpura, Amravati, residents Akash and Ankur sent a strong message by putting their civic responsibilities ahead of their upcoming festivities.
Country First
Undaunted by the celebrations that awaited him, Groom Akash stood proudly at a polling place with his family while wearing traditional wedding attire. “The wedding ceremony is important, but so is voting,” said Akash. His deeds went viral on social media, encouraging people to understand how important it is to participate actively in the political process.
Echoes of Civic Responsibility
Akash and Ankur’s inspiring demonstration of civic duty is consistent with similar incidents that have been reported across the nation. Across Jammu and Kashmir’s northern border to Kerala’s southernmost point, people have continuously shown their steadfast devotion to democracy—even during private festivities. Voting before getting married in Kathua and Udhampur was a moving gesture made by newlyweds as a sign of their shared commitment to the advancement of the country.
Second Phase Highlights
The exercise of democratic rights is taking place in 88 seats spread across 13 states and Union Territories during the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections of 2024. Thirteen seats in Rajasthan, fourteen in Karnataka, and all twenty seats in Kerala are noteworthy regions. But the untimely death of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate causes a postponement in the Madhya Pradesh constituency of Betul.
