In a viral video that has taken social media by storm, a Tehsildar from Maharajganj is seen demanding and accepting a ₹50,000 bribe from a financially struggling man. The video, posted by Priya Singh on X, includes the caption, “Lekhpal sir caught red handed taking bribe in Maharajganj” The footage clearly shows the official being confronted by several people, with one person holding the cash in hand. It’s evident from the clip that the Tehsildar was taking money to complete some official work, highlighting how corruption seeps into the lives of the common people.
Public Outrage Erupts Online
People on the internet have become angry and frustrated as a result of the viral video. “This happens everywhere, no Tehsildar does any work without taking a bribe,” an angry user wrote. “It is not possible for the Lekhpal and the police to not take bribes, the government should bring in a termination policy so that the public can get a better service,” remarked a another user.
