At Chumoukedima between Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland, a boulder started falling from a hillock on Tuesday evening, completely shattering two cars traveling on the road. Two people traveling in the car died in this accident.
Giant rock crushes cars in Nagaland
Three others were seriously injured in the accident which took place at around 5 pm following heavy rain. However, the victims are yet to be identified. The video of this accident is also going viral. In which it is clearly visible that two cars got shattered due to the fall of this boulder.
According to news agency PTI, one person died on the spot in the accident, while the other person died during treatment. Following the accident, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed his shock over the loss of lives in a tweet, saying that the place where the accident happened is known as Pakala Pahar and is notorious for landslides and rock falls.
Along with this, the CM said that his government is taking all necessary steps to provide emergency services and necessary medical aid to the injured. Financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh will be given to each victim’s family. Also, the State Government will continue its efforts along with the Government of India & @nhidcl to take immediate steps for safety infrastructure at all dangerous spots on the Highway.
