Hema Malini is seen in the video with singer Anup Jalota and other people, which was posted by well-known paparazzi Viral Bhayani. But, things took a bad turn when a woman attempted to put her hand on the actress’s shoulder as she posed for pictures.

With a hasty attempt to stop the woman from touching her, Hema Malini, clearly uncomfortable, replied, “Haath nahi…” Then a man intervened and told the woman to keep her distance while posing. Netizens reacted to the situation in a variety of ways, with many criticising the “Dream Girl” star’s response as rude.

The viral video spurred strong opinions online. Some netizens slammed the actress-politician for what they considered a harsh response. One social media user commented, “Saari zindagi aadmiyon ke saath kaam kiya, ab budhape mein aurat ka haath touch hone par aitraaz dikha rahi.” Another added, “Average politicians of India.” A third user said, “These guys are not really down-to-earth personalities, they just act like it on screen.” While a fourth simply said, “Very poor behaviour of Hema Malini.”
Despite the backlash, a section of social media stood up for Hema Malini. Many argued that personal boundaries should be respected, regardless of a person’s status. “Consent is important. You can’t just touch people without permission,” one user explained. Another voiced, “Why criticize Hemaji? Whether the person is male or female, no one likes strangers touching them without asking—celebrity or not.”
