Viral Video: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Saturday publicly apologized on his official Instagram account for his daughter’s misbehavior with a doctor and said that he cannot justify his daughter’s behaviour. The Chief Minister’s daughter Milari Chhangte can be seen thrashing a doctor at a clinic in a purported video going viral on social media.
The incident has angered doctors and on Saturday more than 800 doctors protested, condemning the alleged attack. Members of the Mizoram unit of the Indian Medical Association staged a protest today wearing black bands. One of the protesters, L. Hamar told PTI that Chhangte had attacked a skin specialist in Aizawl on Wednesday.
She told that the doctor told Chhangte that she should have brought an appointment to the clinic, to which she became enraged and attacked. The Mizoram unit of the IMA said in a statement, “We wish that this type of treatment of doctors should not happen again.”
The Chief Minister said on Instagram that he went to the dermatologist and apologized to him. Zoramthanga thanked the IMA for not taking “strong action” against Chhangte. The Chief Minister said, “We have nothing to say in defense of my daughter’s behavior towards the doctor. We apologize to the public and the doctor.”
