The woman’s injuries were so severe that she had to be transferred to Aligarh hospital, even though the police responded quickly in order to put out the fire and take her to a local hospital. The son is currently being held by the police.

The tragic incident occurred when the woman entered the police station with the intention of burning herself with oil. A policeman attempted to take the lighter she was holding, but it fell to the ground. Her son was standing close by when he took up the lighter and set his mother on fire.
The Dispute That Led to Tragedy
Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjiv Suman addressed the situation on social media, stating, “On 16.07.24, a family dispute between two parties escalated, resulting in a woman being set on fire by her son. She was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment, and the son is being questioned. Senior officials have inspected the scene and the situation is now under control.”

Circle Officer Khair provided further details, explaining, “On 16.07.24, during the resolution of a family dispute, a woman was set on fire by her son. She was immediately taken to the hospital, and the son is now being questioned. Senior officers have conducted an on-site inspection.”
