Viral Video: As the festive season begins, a shocking stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus injured nine people this morning. Two of them are in critical condition. The incident, caught on video, has now gone viral. It shows the heavy overcrowding that often happens at transportation hubs during festivals. The stampede took place just before the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express was set to leave. This train is in high demand during the Diwali and Chhath travel season. Authorities say the rush was due to the large number of passengers trying to board.

Viral Video Captures Chaotic Scenes of Injured Passengers as Festival Crowds Surge

A viral video uploaded on X (formerly Twitter) by user ‘IANS’ vividly depicts the dense crowd gathered at Bandra Terminus, with people attempting to board Train No. 22921 to Gorakhpur. The video reveals the overcrowded platform packed with passengers, many of whom were eager to reach their hometowns in time for Diwali and Chhath festivities. As crowds surged, some passengers lost their balance, causing a chain reaction of people falling and resulting in a sudden stampede. The intense pressure left nine people injured, with many requiring immediate medical attention.

Injured Rushed to Bhabha Hospital, Seven Reported Stable While Two Remain Critical

In the wake of the incident, emergency responders rushed the injured to Bhabha Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that seven of the nine injured individuals are in stable condition, while two remain in critical condition. Visuals from the scene show bloodstains on the platform floor as Railway Police officers and passengers carried the wounded onto stretchers for medical aid.

Festive Rush and Poor Crowd Management Under Scrutiny

According to reports, the stampede broke out around 5:56 a.m. when the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express arrived at platform number 1, drawing an immense crowd eager to board. The BMC attributed the stampede to the heavy rush associated with the festive travel period, but the incident has also raised concerns over crowd management at major railway stations during high-demand times. As people across the country prepare to travel home for the holiday season, the incident underscores the urgent need for improved safety protocols and crowd control measures in public spaces.

Growing Calls for Enhanced Safety Measures During Festival Season

With the video of the Bandra Terminus stampede circulating widely on social media, users are voicing their frustration and fear over the recurring issue of overcrowding railway stations. As authorities assess the situation, commuters are calling for greater safety measures and better crowd management during the festival season to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
