SpiceJet allegedly locked passengers between the boarding gate at the Delhi airport and a flight to Bengaluru on January 10. The airline has issued a statement saying that the departure was delayed so passengers were requested to wait at the aerobridge.The passengers were stuck there for about an hour.
Travel vlogger Saumil Agarwal has made the allegation on a post on Instagram. According to post, when the passengers of Delhi-Bengaluru flight SG 8133 asked to open the boarding gate so that they could go back to the waiting area to rest, the officials refused. After that all the officers went missing from there. This case pertains to Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport.
They didn’t even get water to drink
Aggarwal told in his vlog that the senior citizens were locked there for more than an hour and had no water. When he asked for water, the officials did not give him water and said that after opening the gate, he can drink water by asking for it in the flight. Passengers can be seen in the video arguing with airline officials and security personnel. The officials were not able to answer any question of the people.
A SpiceJet spokesperson issued a clarification saying that the flight was delayed due to bad weather in the network and passengers were requested to wait at the aerobridge as their security checks had already been done. SpiceJet spokesperson said, “On an average, the turnaround time at Delhi airport for Boeing aircraft is 40-45 minutes, while the turnaround time on this particular flight was about 20 minutes more than the average turnaround time. Since the passengers had completed the security check , so he was requested to wait at the aerobridge.”
