In a video clip, Sadiq Akif Mahjer, the spokesperson for the Taliban-run Virtue and Vice Ministry, outlined a series of services offered by salons that were deemed contradictory to Islamic principles. The Taliban argues that these practices interfere with the necessary ablutions required before offering prayers in Islam.
Economic Burden on Grooms’ Families
The Taliban claims that women’s beauty salons also place an economic burden on the families of grooms. It is customary for the groom’s family to cover the expenses of pre-wedding salon visits for the bride and her female relatives. The financial strain associated with these visits has led the Taliban to consider them as contributing to economic hardships.
