PV Sindhu

PV Sindhu is a two-time Olympic medallist who started playing Badminton in the International circuit at the young age of 14. She won a Silver and a Bronze medal in the Olympics in 2016 and 2020 respectively.

Finals in 14 Months

PV Sindhu reached the Final of the Malaysia Masters 2024 after a long wait of 14 months. She fought against World Rank 7 China's Wang Zhi Yi in the Final.

Performance

Sindhu throughout the tournament performed exceptionally well and fought hard for every single win. She beat Han Yue in the Quarterfinals and Busanan in the Semifinals.

Runner-Up

After winning the first set of the game by 21-16 she went down in the rest of the 2 sets by 5-21 and 16-21. She became the runner-up. 'It's a bit disappointing' she said after losing against China's Wang Zhi Yi.

Ahead of the Olympics

Ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024, Sindhu reached the final of any tournament after 14 months, she also completed her 450 career wins in this tournament which marks the comeback of the star player.

Why Struggled?

Sindhu has been suffering from a Knee Injury since the French Open last year till February 2024. This year she couldn't go past the Quarterfinals in two events.

Previous Final

The last final she played was in 2023 against Tunjung of Indonesia in the Spain Masters on 27th March. She lost to her in a one-sided match by 21-8, 21-8.
