New Delhi: A FIR has been filed against former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). Imran Khan was arrested after threatening a judge and two high-ranking officials during a rally in Islamabad.
Earlier, Pakistan’s electronic media watchdog prohibited satellite television channels from broadcasting live speeches by ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan, just hours after he threatened state institutions and made provocative statements during a public rally at F-9 Park late Saturday evening.
According to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Imran’s recorded speech will be allowed to air only after an effective delay mechanism to ensure effective monitoring and editorial control is in place.
Imran Khan, while addressing a public gathering, threatened to file cases against top police officials, a woman magistrate, the election commission of Pakistan and political opponents over the treatment meted out to his aide Shahbaz Gill, who was arrested last week on charges of sedition.
“This is all happening in continuation — from a campaign after Lasbela incident when six army officers were killed followed by Gill’s attempt to incite army ranks to go against their top command and then Imran threatening a woman judge and police officials for performing their duties as per the law,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) claimed that YouTube was disrupted in Pakistan on multiple internet providers.
