At least 10 people have been killed and nine injured in a massive fire that broke out in an apartment building in northwestern China’s Xinjiang region, according to Chinese officials. This is the area where Uygar Muslims lives.
According to reports, the fire broke out on Thursday night in the regional capital Urumqi, where the temperature had dropped below freezing after dark. It took about three hours to extinguish the fire.
The local administration of Xinjiang said that all the injured are expected to survive and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
