A very painful road accident has happened in the African country of Senegal. According to the information, there was a fierce collision between two buses, in which 40 people lost their lives. Many people have also been badly injured in this accident. It is being told that this incident took place on Sunday (January 8) near Gniby village in Kafrin, Central Senegal.
President Macky Sall of Senegal has expressed grief over the death of 40 people in the road accident. Three days of national mourning has been declared in the country.
40 killed in Senegal bus accident
Expressing grief over the road accident in central Senegal, President Macky Sall said, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Ganibee, where 40 people died and many were seriously injured. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
The President announced three days of mourning from Monday (January 9) and said she would organize an inter-ministerial council to discuss road safety measures. According to President Macky Sall, there will be a meeting on January 9 to discuss concrete measures to ensure transport safety. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained properly.
Condition of many injured is serious
According to the country’s public broadcaster RTS, two buses were involved in the incident, which collided with each other. Government lawyer Sheikh Dieng also said that the accident happened on National Road No. 1 when the tire of a public bus got punctured and collided with another bus coming from the opposite direction and overturned on the road. The treatment of the injured is going on in the hospital. According to the information, the condition of some people is said to be serious.
