Taiwan: A 7-year-old boy has died after repeatedly thrown to the floor 27 times during a judo class. He was in a coma for the past two months, but could not recover. In a statement issued by the hospital, information has been given about the death of the child.
The boy’s coach, identified by his surname Ho, reportedly not only directed other judo students to practise their throws on Huang, but he himself threw the boy a dozen more times, according to the prosecutors.
The boy had complained of a bad headache but the coach continued throwing him to the floor until he turned pale and became unresponsive. He was rushed to Feng Yuan Hospital in central Taichung city after the alleged physical assault.
The coach, 60, who is not a licensed judo instructor, has been charged with physical assault resulting in serious injury and using a minor to commit a crime, according to local news site the Taipei Times.
The coach was earlier this month released on bail of NT$100,000 ($3,583; £2,587).Upon the victim’s death, however, prosecutors will change his charge to that of “injury causing death”, according to news site Taiwan News.
If found guilty, he could face anything from a minimum of seven years in jail up to life imprisonment, the report added.
