According to a report by the United Nation’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) of the United Nations, 20 million people in Afghanistan could experience severe hunger by the end of March 2023, putting the country at risk of an economic and humanitarian catastrophe.

Report reveals that four million women and children will have acute malnutrition. Afghanistan’s economy has deteriorated, with high levels of debt, a steep decrease in incomes, and high unemployment rates. In actuality, 71 percent of people’s money is spent on food. Winters have only worsened the socio-economic situation.
