Air India Delhi-San Francisco flight lands safely in Russia

An Air India flight to San Francisco was diverted to the Russian city of Magadan on Tuesday. A day later, Air India sent another aircraft of its fleet to evacuate the stranded passengers. The plane took off from Mumbai at 3.20 pm. There are 216 passengers on board the stranded aircraft. According to the airline, this happened due to a technical fault.

The airline said its fleet aircraft will fly all stranded passengers and crew members to San Francisco on June 8. The Delhi-San Francisco flight was diverted to Magadan after the Boeing-777 developed engine trouble. These 216 passengers and 16 crew members were later placed in temporary accommodation in a remote city in Russia.

Air India said in a statement, “Our flight AI-195 is in the air from Mumbai (Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport) to Magadan in Russia (Vladimir Vysotsky International Airport) and its departure time is 6.30 am (local time) on June 8. on time) upon arrival at Vladimir Vysotsky International Airportare supposed to.

It added that a team from the airline is also on board the flight to provide any assistance to passengers and staff at the Vladimir Vysotsky International Airport. Air India said that it is also carrying passengers in sufficient quantities of food and essential items for the scheduled onward flight from Magadan (Vladimir Vysotsky International Airport) to San Francisco (San Francisco International Airport).

On Tuesday, Air India’s Delhi-San Francisco flight AI-173 with 216 passengers and 16 crew members was diverted to Magadan airport. Air India had earlier said in its statement that all passengers and crew members have been ‘arranged for hotel accommodation’. On Wednesday it said it has been forced to keep them in temporary accommodation due to ‘infrastructure constraints’. Efforts have been made to accommodate the passengers in hotels with the help of local government officials.
