Hindenburg: The Jack Dorsey-led payments company Block Inc. has been the target of a bombshell report from US short seller Hindenburg Research, and the company’s Indian-American CFO Amrita Ahuja has come under fire for reportedly shorting the company’s shares. On Thursday, Hindenburg accused officials, including Chief Financial Officer Amrita Ahuja and the Cash App lead manager Brian Grassadonia, of “dumping millions of dollars in stock” on the company’s co-founders Jack Dorsey and James McKelvey.
Who Is Amrita Ahuja?
Ahuja is a senior executive who is Indian-American and ascended through the ranks to take over as the company’s CFO in February of this year. You can find out everything about her here. Ahuja graduated from prestigious schools including the London School of Economics, Duke University, and Harvard Business School. She formerly held positions with industry giants like Airbnb, McKinsey & Company, and The Walt Disney Company before joining Block in 2019.

Amrita began her career as an investment banker
In 2001, she began her career as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley Consulting. Ahuja is the daughter of Indian immigrants who ran a daycare centre in a Cleveland suburb, according to a Wall Street Journal report. She contributed to the establishment of the streaming service Hulu while employed by Fox. Additionally, she assisted Activision Blizzard in changing its business model from one that was dominated by in-store sales around the holidays to one that was defined by an online, always-on, multiplayer experience. Activision Blizzard is the developer of games like “Call of Duty,” “Candy Crush,” and “World of Warcraft.” In 2022, she was highlighted in Fortune’s summit of the most powerful women.
