According to Australian media sources, followers of Khalistan attacked a Swaminarayan temple owned by Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) on Friday in the Rosehill area of Western Sydney. This is yet another instance of Hindu temple vandalism in Australia.
This comes after many incidents of this nature involving supporters of Khalistan were documented over the past few months in various Australian regions.
According to the news source The Australia Today, the Sydney event happened early on Friday. The managers of the temple found vandalism written on the front walls of the temple that was anti-Indian. Also discovered flying on the temple’s entrance was a flag of Khalistan. The wall also had the graffiti “Declare Modi Terrorist (BBC)”.
Sejal Patel, a frequent temple visitor from Harris Park, said in an interview with The Australia Today, “When I came this morning for prayers I saw ugly vandalism on the front wall.”
According to sources, the management of the temple alerted the New South Wales (NSW) police to the situation at around 7 am.
Following their visit, NSW Police officers went to the temple’s location, and the management provided the police with CCTV footage to help with their investigation.
These kinds of assaults on Hindu temples have been carried out by supporters of Khalistan. Only this year, supporters of Khalistan vandalised two Hindu temples in Brisbane and three Hindu temples in Melbourne.
Supporters of Khalistan stormed the Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple in Brisbane, Australia.
Graffiti critical of India was daubed on the walls of the famed ISCKON temple in Melbourne’s Albert Park on January 23. The revered Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs, Victoria, was vandalised on January 16. Later, on January 12, anti-social elements vandalised the Melbourne Swaminarayan temple with anti-Indian graffiti. There was a fourth assault in Brisbane.
