Biden to host PM Modi for an official state visit to US on June 22

On June 22, 2023, Joe Biden will get Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an official state visit to the United States. The visit, which includes a state dinner on the same day, is the highest level of diplomatic reception at the White House.

The strong and close relationship between India and the United States, as well as the warm ties of family and friendship that unite Indians and Americans, will be reaffirmed by PM Modi’s visit.

“The visit will strengthen our two countries’ shared commitment to a free, open, prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific and our shared resolve to elevate our strategic technology partnership, including in defense, clean energy, and space,” Karine Jean-Pierre, White House press secretary said in a statement.

PM Modi and Vice President Biden will talk about how to strengthen cultural and educational contacts.

In 2021, PM Modi made a brief visit to Mr. Biden at the White House as part of the Quad meeting with the US, Australia, Japan, and India. This was not a formal state visit.

A deal to share cutting-edge defence and computing technology, including the joint production of General Electric aircraft engines, was revealed last month by the US and India.
