New York dirtiest city: Quoting PTI, Mint says that data indicates that New York was the dirtiest city in the world on Wednesday, June 8.Smoke from Canadian wildfires has poured into the US East Coast and Midwest. East Coast refers to New York, New Jersey and all those states that border the Atlantic. The American Midwest is adjacent to the Canadian border and is located between the northeastern United Statesand the western US.Experts say that wildfires are fairly common in western Canada, but this year, they have erupted in the eastern parts as well. So far, 9.8 million acres have already burned due to these wildfires. This is 15 times the 10-year average, according to a Canadian minister.
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has thanked Joe Biden for his “critical support” in controlling these blazes. Hundreds of American firefighters have arrived in Canada to fight the wildfires. More are on the way.Trudeau said in a statement on Twitter, “We are seeing more and more of these wildfires because of climate change. These fires are affecting everyday routines, lives and livelihoods and our air quality.“

Unhealthy air quality levels to continue
Accuweather has forecast that unhealthy air will persist through the next week in New York.
On Wednesday, New Yorkers reported a strong smell of smoke, dark skies and breathlessness. The famed New York skyline got blurred due to smoke blowing across the Canadian borders.
Many weather stations in and around New York reported unhealthy air quality.
Weather experts have forecast bad air quality in the region between New Hampshire and Maryland.
Masks recommended
Authorities in New York have recommended that residents wear masks this week. People have also been advised to cut down on their outdoor activities.
