China: According to state media, a car accident in Jiangxi province, eastern China, left 17 persons dead and 22 injured.
The accident resulted in 17 fatalities, 22 injuries, and the hospitalisation of the injured, according to local officials, as reported by state broadcaster CCTV.
Just before 1 am (1700 GMT), a “major road traffic accident” was reported to have occurred in Nanchang County.
“The cause of the accident is under in-depth investigation,” CCTV noted.

Nanchang County traffic police issues advisory
An hour or so after the news broke, Nanchang County traffic police advised drivers to avoid the region due to “foggy weather.”
It stated, “Driving visibility is poor, there is low visibility, which can easily cause traffic accidents.”
“Please pay attention to fog lights… slow down, drive carefully, keep a safe distance from the car in front, avoid pedestrians, do not change lanes and overtake,” it further added.
Due to lack of strong safety regulations in China, traffic accidents are frequent.
A highway pile-up in central China last month that included hundreds of vehicles and was brought on by poor visibility due to fog claimed one life.
And in September, a bus carrying 27 people to quarantine facilities in Guizhou province’s southwest overturned on a highway, resulting in 27 fatalities.
