In an Oped piece published by Chinese Communist Party tabloid, it has taken potshots and lambasted BBC. A research fellow at Fudan University , Song Luzheng has mentioned BBC as a propaganda machine in his article. The Oped has come days after India’s Income Tax Department Survey conducted survey operation at BBC’s Delhi and Mumbai offices as part of a tax evasion probe.

What Global Times has to say about BBC
- Questions the Journalism style of BBC and writes “The BBC, as a typical Western media outlet, claims to be objective and fact-based. Nonetheless, it’s not reporting facts but doing opinion journalism,” and added, “it is a propaganda machine that serves the Western imperialism”.
- Attacks Britain, “British politicians defend the BBC as a national treasure, they ignore the fact that this propaganda machine has long been infamous in other countries”.
- Criticizes Western Countries “the West adopts its own set of values and standards — it only agrees with what fits their standards and bans whatever doesn’t fit the standards”.
- ‘The hostility, extreme prejudice and neglect of professionalism of Western media reflects their arrogance and supremacist mentality,’
- International status of the country’s media determined by strength of the country and its adherence to Media Ethics. BBC does not have Media ethics and UK’s strength and prestige has diminished over the years
