Chinese Sailors: According to the Mirror, up to 55 Chinese sailors may have perished when their nuclear submarine got caught in a trap meant for foreign ships in the Yellow Sea. A “chain and anchor” trap was discovered by the submarine, according to a private UK intelligence dossier. The whole crew of the submarine was poisoned as a result of a catastrophic oxygen system failure that caused the submariners to perish.
Captain and Officers Among Chinese Submarine’s Fatalities
The captain of the Chinese PLA Navy submarine “093-417” and 21 other officers are among those who perished. China has formally refuted the incident’s existence. Additionally, it reportedly turned down foreign aid for the stranded submarine, which had only been in operation for a little over 15 years.
UK Report Chronicles Tragic Events of Fatal Submarine Mission
The deadly mission is described in the UK report. It says, “On August 21st, an onboard accident occurred during a mission in the Yellow Sea at 08:12 local time, resulting in the loss of 55 crew members, including 22 officers, 7 officer cadets, 9 petty officers, and 17 sailors. Among the deceased was Captain Colonel Xue Yong-Peng. It is believed that their deaths were caused by hypoxia resulting from a system failure on the submarine. The submarine collided with a chain and anchor obstacle used by the Chinese Navy to trap US and allied submarines, leading to system failures that took six hours to repair and bring the vessel to the surface. The onboard oxygen system malfunctioned catastrophically.”
Chinese Submarine Incident Shrouded in Uncertainty and Denials
The alleged disappearance of the Chinese submarine has not been independently verified. Taiwan has likewise disputed internet allegations, and Beijing has categorically denied any conjecture regarding the incident. The highly-classified UK study is based on military intelligence.
