Imran Khan: Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was visited by police on Tuesday at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore. According to local media sources, the police are waiting outside Khan’s home to apprehend the former Pakistani prime minister. As armoured vehicles made their way to Imran Khan’s residence, his party PTI supporters to reach Zaman Park soon.’
Reasons behind Imran Khan’s arrest warrant in multiple cases remain undisclosed
According to a report, the deputy inspector general (DIG) (Operations) of Islamabad, Shahzad Bukhari, claimed that authorities had gathered outside Imran Khan’s home to arrest the PTI leader. It is not known yet in which case police have come to arrest Imran Khan as the former Pakistan PM has outstanding warrants of arrest against him in more than one case. Imran Khan is being sought for arrest in relation to a case that the Islamabad DIG declined to discuss in detail. Senior PTI leader Farukh Habib said that Imran Khan would not surrender to police in “fake cases”.
Court grants temporary relief to Imran Khan as non-bailable arrest warrant stayed
A day earlier, after receiving two non-bailable arrest orders, Imran Khan had organised a march of thousands of his supporters as Islamabad police arrived to take him into custody. He was given two non-bailable arrest warrants for failing to appear in court in the Toshakhana case and for making threats against a female magistrate while speaking to a crowd of people here last year. Imran Khan’s non-bailable arrest warrant was stayed by an Islamabad court on Tuesday till March 16 in response to his threat to a female magistrate during his address to a crowd here last year.
