US: Late on Wednesday, violent thunderstorms and tornadoes ripped through numerous areas of the Central US, killing at least two people in McClain County, Oklahoma, according to local authorities. According to McClain County Emergency Management’s Facebook post, at least two individuals died as a result of the storms, and emergency personnel were called to numerous injured persons who were trapped in their homes. The organization urged citizens to avoid the impacted areas.
NWS predicted intense thunderstorm
In areas of the Central United States, including Oklahoma, Kansas, and Iowa, the National Weather Service (NWS) had issued warnings for severe thunderstorms, hail, and tornadoes for Wednesday into the night. The NWS predicted intense thunderstorms with the potential for severe weather for Thursday morning into the afternoon.

The tornado destroyed many of the 400 homes in the area
The storms had left nearly 20,000 consumers in Oklahoma without electricity. This happened a few weeks after a tornado in southeast Missouri claimed the lives of five individuals. A tornado that wreaked havoc on the Mississippi village of Rolling Fork and killed 26 people last month was also caused by a prior round of thunderstorms. The tornado destroyed many of the 400 homes in the area.
