Donald Trump: Donald Trump, the former president of the US, has returned to Facebook and YouTube. According to the reports, he has reconnected with the tech platforms that he had previously used to fuel his political ascent until they cut him off during his supporters’ attack on Congress on January 6, 2021.
Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts were restored
Earlier on Friday, YouTube, owned by Alphabet Inc., restored Trump’s channel. Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts were restored earlier this year by Meta Platforms Inc. Elon Musk, the new owner of the website, reactivated his Twitter account in November, although Trump has not yet published anything there.

By the use of social media, Trump fueled his implausible 2016 presidential campaign. As he makes another bid for the presidency in 2024, his return provides him access to crucial venues for political funding, enabling him to connect with a total of 146 million users across three significant tech platforms. Referring to its move to restore his account, YouTube in a tweet said, “We carefully evaluated the continued risk of real-world violence, while balancing the chance for voters to hear equally from major national candidates in the run-up to an election.”

After Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol while Congress was confirming Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election, YouTube banned Trump for violating its policy against encouraging violence in 2021.
